Losing Control of My Inner Monologue

Oscar Time

It's that fantastic time of the year once again: Oscar season. I do so adore all of the glamour and hoopla associated with these little awards.

Fancy dresses, borrowed jewels, the red carpet.

Isaac Mizrahi surely to be groping buxom blondes, many people saying many stupid things, a handful of people wearing very inappropriate things, one or more people tripping on aforementioned red carpet.

Paparazzi, fans, Jon Stewart (such an added bonus this year!).

Many hours of boring speeches just to get to the last few good awards.

And I love it all! The Academy Awards are almost as exciting as Christmas. A big build-up full of anticipation and speculation. And then it's magically here -- with hours of pre-event coverage followed by the Big Deal, and then post-event coverage in the form of Katie or Matt tomorrow morning. And then the gossip rags featuring all of those pretty (and silly) dresses.

And then it all begins again -- preparation for next year.

Rafferty is hosting her annual Oscars party, which is the must-attend event of this social season. The food is often times as exciting as who wins in each category, but it's nice to know entertainment is guaranteed.
